Paul Healy’s Tae Kwon Do

Tae Kwon Do is the art of self defense that originated in Korea. It is recognized as one of the oldest forms of martial arts in the world, reaching back over 2,000 years. The name was selected for its appropriate description of the art: Tae (foot), Kwon (hand), Do (art). Get fit with Paul Healy Mondays at 8.15 to 9pm. Strengthen, tone with a unique formula that gives everyone who joins an overall workout, without getting bored or restless with the same routine.

 

Laragh Glendalough Active Retirement

The Brockagh Centre group had a very special day out last week on a cruise to Howth with the weather on their side and a tasty lunch in Howth everyone enjoyed a day out with a difference and felt refreshed on the return journey.  New members always welcome to join. Ladies Soccer now Recruiting

St. Kevin’s Ladies Soccer St. Kevin’s Ladies are now recruiting for this year’s Dublin Women’s Soccer League. Participants have to be 15 years (with parental permission) and over. Girls who would like to join should contact Michelle McCoy on 086-1225786 or Stephen McGuiness on 086-8113154.

Bealtaine Festival Afternoon Tea Dance                                                                                                                                                                                         As part of the Bealtaine Festival we are celebrating creativity in older age together at the Brockagh Resource Centre and one of our events will be an afternoon tea dance on Sunday 22th May, 3-6pm with music from the Wicklow Man and hosted by Laragh Glendalough Active Retirement association. Refreshments will be provided.

Laragh IT Centre                                                                                                   Our next Benefit 4 will be starting shortly an 8 hr course over 4 weeks for only €20 (if you are over 65 it’s free) you will learn Internet safety, Email, Online banking, paying motor tax and transferring photos to your computer. We also have one to one classes for people who don’t want to be in a class and have their own specific computer needs for 0ne hour €15. Equal Skills: Is for those with no experience of computers and Internet this is a certified course €200.

ECDL: This course establishes a standard for everyone who uses a computer in either a professional or personal capacity. It is a certificate that verifies competence in computer use, making the holder readily mobile within Ireland and Internationally.

Parish Sale:

St Johns’s, Laragh along with St Saviour’s and Glenealy Parishes are holding their Annual Parish Cake Sale in the RDA Hall, Rathdrum next Saturday the 14th of May from 2-4.30pm. Lots of delicious cakes, plants, books and bric a brac will be on sale. Teas and Coffee with yummy home baking are also available

 

County Wicklow Network for Older People AGM                                                                                                                                                                       County Wicklow Network for Older People AGM-Friday 13th May in Brockagh Centre, Laragh from 10am to 3.45pm. All groups and individuals who have an interest in promoting and participating in activities that enhance the life of Older people in Co Wicklow are encouraged to attend. The AGM will report on the Network’s activities for the past year and they also welcome the opportunity to provide information for those in attendance on the Age Friendly Programme and the proposed changes to the structure of the Network. At about 11.45 a.m. it is hoped to have an open forum with the five Wicklow TDs, however this cannot be finalised until closer to the AGM due to current political uncertainty. Following the mornings formalities a light lunch will be served at 1.00p.m after which the “Wicklow Man” will provide music to dance to. For more information contact Garvan 0404 20208.

 

Shake-UP DAY:

You are cordially invited to attend SHAKE-UP DAY, At the Brockagh Centre, Laragh on Thursday 2nd June 11a.m -2p.m coffee from 10.30am light lunch at 1pm Scidils 11 am, Flisks 12 noon and Lobbers 12.30pm. County Wicklow needs to form a team this year. (DCU Sat 11th June). Previous Members will attest to the sociable, vigorous and full-on energetic experience enjoyed by playing the Games against 32 other county teams. Team players turn up at the Brockagh each year and try their luck in being picked for the team again. Come along and take on these seasoned players and try to inject a bit of competition for places…. there are 9 places on the team with each player playing all 3 games (new format this year).
