Laragh Glendalough Notes Week beg 13th June

Wicklow Won!                                                                                                                               On Saturday 11th June three teams from Wicklow managed by John Holden of Glendalough spectacularly won the national celebration of Go for Life in DCU for overall performance. The first team was captained by Breda Kehoe of Ashford Community Group and was joined by teammates Dick Mahon, John Conway and Olive Mahon, all whom are from Glendalough Active Retired. Team two was Captained by Finian McEvoy from Laragh and teammates Brian Schwepps (Blessington), Tom McHugh (Ashford Community Group) and PJ Hynes (Tinahely Men’s Shed). The final team was captained by John Quinn and was made up of Tony Londberg, Jim Kennedy and Eddie Hogan with the whole team coming from Tinahely Men’s Shed. The teams competed in Scidles, a form of bowling, Flisks, a form of pitch and toss, also Lobbers, a type of boules. We are delighted with their achievements and wish the event every success in the future.

Are You Ready to Transform Your Body                                                       H.I.F.D (High Intensity Fitness Dance) is the way to go, with the latest popular music, a smile and  calorie shifting moves you can exercise with fun. Beginners and advanced are welcome. On Wednesday evenings 7pm in the Brockagh Resource Centre just drop by to see what it’s all about.

Summer Youth Leadership Programme                                                                                                            East Wicklow Youth Service is providing a Youth Leadership Programme for young people in Laragh during the months of July and August. The programme aims to enable young people to develop the skills and qualities necessary to be good leaders, as well as challenging them to use these skills for the betterment of society. The programme includes three modules, each approximately 15 hours in duration.
