Glendalough Christmas Fair on December 11th    

Join us in the Brockagh Resource Centre, Laragh for our annual festive day out this December, open from 11am to 16:00. Get your unique Christmas gifts, homemade baking, art, books, photography, wood turning, antiques, wreaths, fairy doors, Christmas cards and lots more. Santa will be arriving at 1pm in his horse and cart to meet children in his grotto and will stay until 3pm  . Free parking and free admission. Messy Play For Kids    

Messy Play is coming to the Brockagh Centre on December, Monday 5th.  The classes give babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers the opportunity to come together and discover everyday materials in a new and exciting way within a fun, friendly and relaxed environment.  At Messy Play you can expect to find, painting, water, sand, dough, gloop, jelly, flour, spaghetti, mud and much more, each class is different. Car Boot Sale

Glendalough – An Age Old Attraction                                                                        

Rathdrum Historical Society will present a lecture by Joan Kavanagh in the Brockagh Resource Centre, Laragh on Glendalough – An Age Old Attraction on Monday, 5th at 8 pm, followed by tea/coffee and festive mince pies. Please note the change from the Society’s usual venue. There will be a charge of €3 at the door and all are welcome. Using images from the photographic exhibition currently on display in the Centre. The exhibition and talk is based on a selection from the Lawrence and Valentine Collections held by the National Library of Ireland Photographic Archives. The Lawrence Collection dates from 1865 when William Lawrence opened a photographic studio in his mother’s fancy goods store in Sackville Street, now O’Connell Street, opposite the GPO. His chief photographer, Robert French is credited with taking 30,000 of the 40,000 negatives of almost every town and village in Ireland between 1865 and 1916. Valentine & Sons were a Scottish company who expanded into the post card business and the collection of photographs covers towns and villages in the Republic of Ireland, and dates from 1903 to 1960. Glendalough features extensively in these collections.

Get Ireland Walking  

Get Ireland Walking aims to promote, encourage and support people to get walking while unifying the efforts of all recreation, sporting and health promotion agencies and associations interested in promoting walking. In association with Get Ireland Walking, Wicklow Local Sports Partnership & Brockagh Resource Centre are organising leisurely weekly walks in the area starting on Monday 5th December at 10am from the centre in Laragh. Everyone is welcome to come along to walk at their own pace for less than one hour. All ages and abilities are welcome. Get Ireland Walking is funded by the Irish Sports Council and the HSE, and supported by the Irish Heart Foundation, Mountaineering Ireland, Age and Opportunity, GAA, Arthritis Ireland and others.  Are you looking for some company on those lonely winter evening walks, well we can help. Citizens Information Centre Increased Service

Come along to C.I.C office in the Brockagh Resource Centre on the first and third Tuesday of each month from 10-12pm providing valuable personal advice relating to your rights and entitlements on a large range of matters. Pilates at the Brockagh Centre                                                                                                       Starting in January 2017, Marie Noonan will be teaching Pilates at the Brockagh Resource Centre. Marie has 17 years fully qualified experience in helping people rehabilitate, heal and transform in mind, body and soul. There will be a choice of morning and evening classes available. Active Retirement Christmas Raffle                                                                                      

It’s not only the Christmas season that will soon be upon us but The Hamper Season will be too! The Active Retirement Group have put together a fantastic wide range of gifts as well as a beautiful luxury Hamper; all to be raffled on 13th December.  The Hamper will be on display at the Brockagh Resource Centre and in Willie McCoy’s over the next few weeks.  Tickets will be on sale at the Brockagh Resource Centre, Willie McCoy’s and a number of other outlets.  We thank you for your support.

Christmas Tea Dance  

Well done to the Active Retirement Committee for a very successful evening on Sunday 27th November when they had their Christmas Tea Dance with lively music from The Wicklow Man which was enjoyed by all.  Dancers came from all over the county and further afield, with the attendance reaching record numbers of 125 people   

Morning Yoga  

This class will run every Thursday from 10 to 11.15am. This is a gently paced class for beginners to advanced.  The class will provide gentle stretching, improved strength and flexibility, as well as help students to find balance and calm in everyday life.  To find out more Call Louise on 087 603 2202 or Brockagh Centre on 0404 45600

Chair Yoga                            

Chair Yoga classes at the Brockagh Centre will run on Thursdays at 11.30am to 12.45pm. Chair Yoga is suitable for those who may find regular yoga classes too strenuous – those who may be completely new to yoga, recovering from injury or illness or generally less active and mobile. Evening Yoga with Viva                        

Viva’s yoga classes for beginners to advance on Wednesday evenings in the Brockagh Resource Centre at 7pm. Wear comfortable clothes on the night and bring a blanket. Mats are available on the night. Viva will be finishing up for Christmas on 7th of December and will return on the 11th of January.

Dance Classes  

H.I.F.D: Get into shape for Christmas and loose some holiday pounds with Adam in cardio exercise dancing. You don’t need to be a good dancer or very fit just dance along at your own pace and enjoy the music. Wednesday night in the Brockagh Resource Centre at 7.00pm.

Tae kwon-Do for Youths and Adults

Teens and adults will enjoy Taekwon-Do, a Korean art of self-defence. Benefits include improving confidence, respect, discipline, awareness, concentration, channeling aggression, balance, coordination, speed, reactions, fitness and health. Call Master Kenneth Wheatley on 087-2547347 for further information. Classes are on Tuesdays at  7.45-8.45pm (Seniors & Teens).
