Glendalough Car Boot

Shoppers will find home-baking and plenty of bargains at our next Car Boot Sale on Sunday, 3 rd September. You can find anything from cream cakes, scones, bread and jam to plants, antiques, clothing and jewellery. Please pre-book indoor spaces early. Vans must be booked in. Run the Ridge in October

On 14th October you will have a chance to run the majestic Derrybawn Ridge while supporting local sports teams Glendalough AC and Laragh GFC. The race begins in the scenic grounds of Laragh GFC before taking runners on a 20 km adventure on the local trails and hills. A shorter 8 km option is also available. The courses are fully marked, and a mighty spread of cakes and tea will be on offer for the post-race celebrations! For full details and bookings please go to www.runtheridge.ie

 

Laragh Tidy Towns and Irish Wildlife Trust Talk

On September 14th, Laragh Tidy Towns will host an evening with Pádraic Fogarty of the Irish Wildlife Trust. Pádraic will talk about his landmark book, Whittled Away. The book charts the grim decline of nature in the Irish landscape but also reveals possibilities for the future, showing a path to recovery for nature and wildlife. The talk, followed by discussion, will take place in the Brockagh Resource Centre from 7.30 to 9 pm. All are welcome to attend.

Laragh Tidy Towns monthly clean-up will take place on 2nd September. Meet opposite Lynhams at 11 am.

 

New Exhibition- Glendalough: Art and Atmosphere

The Glendalough: Art and Atmosphere free exhibition will be held in the Brockagh Resource Centre, Laragh from the 19th – 27th of August, 9.30 to 5pm. This is a display of 18th and 19th century paintings and drawings of the Glendalough Valley, capturing rarely seen aspects of the Valley’s heritage. This exhibition is a collaborative venture with a number of agencies on the Glendalough Heritage Forum, especially the Heritage Office of Wicklow County Council and the Heritage Council.

 

Haunted Halloween Kids Day

Calling all little ghouls and spooks! Join us for our Horrifying Haunted Halloween House on Saturday October 28th. Jam-packed with activities including Ghouling Games, Frightful Feasts, Alarming Art, Petrifying Prizes, Terrifying Treasure Hunt and a Death-Defying Disco, this Haunted House is sure to be the creepiest one around! New Dates for Traditional Basket-making Workshop

This full day, traditional basket-making workshop will teach you basic basketry techniques. Taught in a relaxed learning environment, you will bring home your own completed small round willow basket (a skib). The workshops will take place in the Brockagh Centre from 9-5 pm 23rd and 17th of Sept, 7th and 21st of Oct, 2017. Classes are small with 5 participants. Garden workshop   also available on request. High Intensity Fitness Dane (H.I.F.D)              

Just pop in on Wednesday evenings at 7pm in the Brockagh Centre to dance your socks off with Adam and the class in cardio exercise dancing, dropping those extra calories. You do not need to be a good dancer or very fit, dance at your own pace and enjoy the music. You can contact Adam on 083 3057949 for information.

 

Adult Guidance Service

Citizen’s Information Clinic                                                                                                      

The Citizens Information Centre at the Brockagh Resource Centre is open for information relating to your rights and entitlements from 10 am until noon on the first and third Tuesday of each month. No appointment is necessary for this free and confidential service.

 

Pilates at the Brockagh 

Marie Noonan class will be back Mon 18th, Sept. Marie is a qualified Pilate’s teacher and has been teaching for the last 17 years and works full time as a movement therapist for rehabilitation, health and longevity. Active Retirement Group

Laragh Glendalough Active Retirement Group are back after their summer break Tuesday 12th September at 11am.

Their Sunday tea dances were a great success last season and the next tea dance will take place on Sunday 19th November 3 to 6pm, all groups must book in advance with the centre. New members are always welcome, come along on a Tuesday morning to the Brockagh Centre from 11am – 12.15pm.

 

Evening Yoga with Viva                              

Viva’s yoga classes are for beginners to advance will be returning on Sept 11th, Wednesdays at 7pm in the Brockagh Centre. Wear comfortable clothes on the night and bring a blanket. Mats are available on the night. You can contact Viva on 086 3409629 for more information.
