Irish Dancing to start on Saturday 16th Sept from 9am-10am in the Brockagh Resource Centre, Laragh. Classes are for beginners and is for age 3yrs up. Afternoon Tea Dance

There will be a pre-Christmas tea dance coming up this year, with a date to be confirmed but we will keep you posted, all groups must book in advance with the Brockagh Centre by calling us on 0404 45600. A reminder that new members are always welcome to the Active Retirement Group in the Brockagh Centre, Laragh, come along on a Tuesday morning to the Brockagh Centre from 11am – 12.15pm for some exercise and social gatherings.

 

 

Join author and Irish Wildlife Trust Campaigns Officer Padraic Fogarty for a talk about his landmark book Whittled Away on Thursday 14th Sept, 7.30 to 9pm at the Brockagh Resource Centre, Laragh. This is a free event hosted by Laragh Tidy Towns, all our welcome. The book charts the grim decline of nature in the Irish Landscape, but it also reveals possibilities for the future, showing a path to recovery for nature and wildlife. In particular, Padraic will discuss how we can better manage our uplands – a topic relevant to the area.

 

The Glendalough Trail 2017 (Change of Date)

The Glendalough Trail race, in aid of ‘Fighting Blindness’, will now take place on Saturday 18th November with registration and refreshments at the Brockagh Centre. It will be a fantastic, fun, running experience over a 15.5 km route that is scenic, challenging and safe. Run the Ridge in October

On 14th October you will have a chance to run the majestic Derrybawn Ridge while supporting local sports teams Glendalough AC and Laragh GFC. The race begins in the scenic grounds of Laragh GFC before taking runners on a 20 km adventure on the local trails and hills. A shorter 8 km option is also available. Haunted Halloween Kids Day

Calling all little ghouls and spooks! Join us for our Horrifying Haunted Halloween House on Saturday October 28th. Jam-packed with activities including Ghouling Games, Frightful Feasts, Alarming Art, Petrifying Prizes, Terrifying Treasure Hunt and a Death-Defying Disco, this Haunted House is sure to be the creepiest one around! New Dates for Traditional Basket-making Workshop

This full day, traditional basket-making workshop will teach you basic basketry techniques. Taught in a relaxed learning environment, you will bring home your own completed small round willow basket (a skib). The workshops will take place in the Brockagh Centre from 9-5 pm  17th and  23rd of Sept, 7th and 21st of Oct, 2017. Classes are small with 5 participants. Garden workshop  also available on request. Pilates at the Brockagh 

Marie Noonan class will be back Mon 18th, Sept. Marie is a qualified Pilate’s teacher and has been teaching for the last 17 years and works full time as a movement therapist for rehabilitation, health and longevity. Morning Yoga with Louise

Louise’s yoga class will be held every Thursday from 10 to 11.15 am. This is a gently-paced class where students learn how to align, open and strengthen the body gradually while stabilizing the platforms of the feet and ankles, hips and pelvis and shoulder girdle. The class begins with general and targeted warm-up sequences followed by postures (Asanas) and Vinyasa (breath-connected) sequences before final relaxation in Savasana. Chair Yoga                                                                                                                                 

Our very popular Chair Yoga class will take place on Thursdays from 11.30 am to 12.45 pm. Chair Yoga is suitable for almost everyone and helps students find balance and calm in everyday life. The class takes students through centering and breath-work, followed by postures that let the joints move through their range of movement whilst seated or through use of the chair whilst standing. Wicklow Man                                                                                                                        

Wicklow Man(David Bury 087 272 3962) is on every Tuesday night at the Brockagh Centre at 9 p.m.  for a few hours of dancing and socialising.

 

AA Meetings                                                                                                                            

Closed AA Meetings are held in the Brockagh Resource Centre at 8.30 p.m. every Monday night.

 

Mobile Library

The mobile library visits Lynhams car park in Laragh every second Thursday from 12 noon to 12.50 pm. The next visits will take place on September 14th and September 28th.

 

Tai Chi and QiGong                                                                                                                        

Tai Chi and QiGong classes are very powerful tools which help to heal physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.
