Public Solar Sound Healing Session

Learn how to open your energy gates and release stress and how to use two Sound Healing Techniques to release congested energies supporting your own healing. The workshop will be held in Brockagh Resource Centre, Laragh, on Monday 17th December from 8pm to 10 pm.There will also be a demonstration of Solar Sound Healing. Booking is essential. Active Retirement Group

AR Christmas lunch is on 11th December in Lynhams. AR will be having their Christmas Party at Kilashee Hotel  on Wednesday  12th December.  They will be starting back mid January (weather permitting). Active Retirement group meet every Tuesday morning at 11am in the Brockagh Centre and they have a great line up of activities each week. So if you fancy a chat, a cuppa and some light exercise, bowls, dancing and music come along on Tuesdays. The group meet for lunch once a month at various local venues (new members welcome). 

Free heritage Interpretation Seminar

You  are invited to attend this half day public information seminar from 10.00 am – 2.00pm on Sat 24th Nov. This event follows on from previous Our Wicklow Heritage seminars on the themes of ‘Community Archaeology’ and ‘Making Local History’. This year’s theme explores creative means of communicating heritage information, with a focus on community based actions for interpreting our towns, villages and places. Event will be of interest  to all those actively involved in promoting the natural, built and cultural heritage of their local area, including tourism businesses, members of heritage groups, tidy towns , PURE Mile groups and volunteer recorders. The organisers especially welcome existing and new contributors to Our Wicklow Heritage, the online community heritage archive for county Wicklow. Booking essential. 30th Annual Supper Dance

In aid of St. John’s Church, Laragh on Friday the 23rd of November 2018 from 8pm to 1am in Lynham’s Hotel, Laragh. Music by John Flood. Tickets cost  €22.50, including a draw for a hamper.

Rathdrum Historical Society Lecture

Rathdrum Historical Society to host a lecture from Chris Corlett and will take place on Monday, 3rd December in the Brockagh Resource Centre, Laragh at 8 pm, followed by tea/coffee and festive mince pies. Chris will discuss the monastic settlement at Glendalough. The talk will take you on a tour of the majestic valley of Glendalough, exploring the monuments, legends and history that make this one of the best preserved early Christian church sites anywhere in the world. An archaeologist with the National Monuments Service, Chris has written, compiled and edited many books with subject matters ranging from archaeology, history, folklore and early photography. A prolific writer, Chris’ books include the beautifully produced Wicklow’s Traditional Farmhouses, Here Lyeth, The 18th Century Headstones of Wicklow and his latest book Glendalough. He is also a very frequent contributor to the quarterly magazine Archaeology Ireland as well as a variety of national and local journals. Please note the change from the Society’s usual Rathdrum venue. There will be a charge of €3 at the door and all are welcome to what should be a most informative and entertaining lecture by a leading expert on Glendalough.

Reindeer-making Workshop & Traditional Basket Weaving Workshop

Throughout the year are full-day basket making workshop where participants will learn to make a traditional willow basket. The workshops are relaxed and enjoyable with a focus on traditional Irish basket-making techniques. Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th of November is a two day Reindeer-making Workshop.  Glendalough Christmas Fair 2018

Once again we see the return of our very popular and successful Christmas  Fair at the Brockagh Resource Centre, laragh, Glendalough.  A terrific selection of unusual gifts, with many handmade items, giving you some great ideas for your Christmas shopping. We Love Art

Art and crafts classes for children of primary school age take place on Monday afternoons.  Classes cover a wide range of art and craft techniques and processes, giving kids an outlet for creative self-expression while learning new skills.  Classes are small and places must be reserved in advance, the first class is free for new students. Adult Art Classes

Wednesday morning  drawing and painting classes are suitable for beginners as well as more experienced painters.  Students choose the medium(s) with which they wish to work, and develop their interests and personal style with Almha’s advice and guidance.  If you are thinking of getting back into your art, or trying something new to explore your creative side, now is a good time!  Classes are at 11-12.30pm in the Brockagh Resource Centre, Laragh, commencing on September 19th. Drama School                                                                                                                         

Drama classes are a fantastic way of developing confidence and encouraging creativity and imagination. Drama modules will incorporate improvisation, mime, script work, vocal training and acting skills. Students will also learn from the Irish Board of Speech and Drama syllabus and be afforded opportunities to take graded examinations under a fully qualified teacher.
