Christmas Market

Would you like to get your creative ideas or skills showcased at this year’s Brockagh Resource Centre Christmas Market on the 15th of Dec, costing €25 per space. The centre is taking bookings now for spaces. We are hoping someone from the community will volunteer for a main role in the Grotto with good communication skills and a ‘hearty laugh’. Glendalough Country Market & Car Boot Sales       

We have now moved to the 2nd Sunday of the month. Encouraging local and non-local producers of plants, vegetables, crafts etc. Our next event will be on Sun, 13th of Oct, open from 10am to 4pm. Bargains on practically anything from household items to garden additions, and even vintage or antique treasures. Vans must be booked in. Please pre-book indoor spaces early. Tidy Towns Laragh and Glendalough

Our youngest member, Sean Dunne was featured on the Ray Darcy show on Saturday 21st commentating on a sheep shearing competition. Congratulations to Sean for his achievements in this area and at such a very young age. We also would like to wish Barry a speedy recovery from his recent illness.

At this year’s Co.Wicklow PPN Training Fair 2019 our chairman Finian spoke on the challenges and achievements in Tidy Towns groups, enhancing local areas, setting up a sustainable energy community and exchanging ideas and information.

In other TT news we will soon be hearing the results of the Tidy Towns Competition. The next three KWETB course which are held in the Brockagh Resource Centre are on Tues the 8th, 22nd of Oct and the 5th of Nov at 7.30pm each night.

Footfalls Walking Festival Glendalough (please not correction on email address)

Footfalls Walking Festival will be based in the Brockagh Resource Centrefrom Fri 25th to Mon 28th of Oct with many of the walks taking us through Wicklow Mountains National Park. All walks are led by experienced walking leaders who will enhance your day with information on local history flora and fauna.The weekend offers a selection of walking choices such as Lugnaquilla (925 m), a night walk, moderate to easy walks throughout the weekend. Please note: Walks may be changed on the day depending on weather conditions or the fitness level of the group at the leader’s discretion. Wicklow Mountains National Park

Nature and St Kevin Walk, Sunday 29th Sept at 10am, adults are welcome to join National Park Guides for a gentle walk in the beautiful valley of Glendalough. St Kevin is known as the ‘St Francis’ of Ireland. He is known for his deep love of wildlife. We will visit some of the sites associated with St Kevin, sharing the stories about St Kevin’s connection with nature and discussing possible meanings behind the stories, weaving them with current conservation concerns. Meet outside the O.P.W. Glendalough Visitor Centre (Eircode A98HC80). Approx 4hrs incl. a break. Practicalities: Adults only. Wear footwear suitable for rough terrain and clothing suitable for wet weather.  Please leave your dog at home. This event is free of charge but please be aware that the OPW Visitor Centre car park has a €4 charge for car parking. Booking: Booking is essential!  Evening Yoga with Viva                                                                                   

Viva’s yoga classes for beginners to intermediate are back on Tuesdays at 7pm (depending on nos.) in the Brockagh Centre. Improve your fitness strength and flexibility in a relaxing way. .Saint Kevins’s Way Challenge 6th October

Register today to secure your place at www.barretstown.org/events/skw. Starting in Valleymount on a 25km trek across the Wicklow Mountains, finishing at the Brockagh Resource Centre, Laragh. Barretstown is a residential camp for children and their families affected by cancer and other serious illnesses. They offer a range of fun, adventurous and challenging activities supported behind the scenes by 24 hour on site medical attention and care. The Citizens Information Centre at the Brockagh Resource Centre, Laragh is open for information relating to your rights and entitlements from 10 am until noon on the first and third Tuesday of each month. No appointment is necessary for this free and confidential service.
